Presentation

Dr Pedro Augusto Braga dos Reis has a bachelor degree in Biochemistry (2008) and received his doctorate Agriculture Biochemistry (2014) from the Federal University of Viçosa (UFV). He is currently an Assistant Professor of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology Department at UFV. His research focus is centered on understanding how plants respond to stress conditions and how they are connected to cell death response.


 


 

Research interest

Molecular Biology and Functional genomics. The main goal resides on how plants cope with a variety of abiotic stresses conditions. By using functional genomic approaches, molecular and genetic characterization of different signaling pathways, which regulate stress responses, have been identified. Therefore, new molecular strategies are expected to help at producing plants more adapted to adverse conditions and, ultimately, with improved productivity.


 

Current projects include

Identification of suppressors of tolerance to drought mediated by overexpression molecular chaperone BiP.
