Professor at Federal University of Vicosa. Bachelor in Biochemistry, master and doctor of Agricultural Biochemistry from the Federal University of Viçosa. My research focus is centered on understanding how
plants respond to stress conditions and how epigenetic mechanism play a role in this process. Through functional genomics approaches, we aim to characterize genes related to G protein signaling pathways
and how they can be modulated during the development and stress conditions. Likewise, we also aim to identify and characterize cis-regulatory elements, which might modulate specifically the gene
expression and DNA methylation.
Molecular Biology and Functional genomics. The main goal resides on how plants cope with a variety of abiotic stresses conditions. By using functional genomic approaches, molecular and genetic characterization of different signaling pathways, which regulate stress responses, have been identified. Therefore, new molecular strategies are expected to help at producing plants more adapted to adverse conditions and, ultimately, with improved productivity.
