Apresentação

Dr. Samuel Cordeiro Vitor Martins é engenheiro-agrônomo e completou o seu doutorado em Fisiologia Vegetal na Universidade Federal de Viçosa (UFV), em 2015, com período sanduíche na University of Tasmania (Austrália). Atualmente, é Professor Adjunto do Departamento de Biologia Vegetal da UFV e atua como Editor Assistente do periódico Brazilian Journal of Botany.

Áreas de interesse

Ecofisiologia da fotossíntese, relações hídricas, arquitetura hidráulica das plantas.

Os projetos de pesquisa em execução tem por objetivo o entendimento de como características hidráulicas das plantas, como a condutância hidráulica foliar e vulnerabilidade à cavitação, estão envolvidas na regulação estomática e performance fotossintética em condições normais e estressantes de crescimento.

As investigações fazem uso de plantas de interesse agrícola, com o intuito de fornecer informações úteis para programas de melhoramento, mas estudos com plantas de diferentes grupos funcionais (samambaias, coníferas e angiospermas) também são realizados visando entender a evolução destes processos.

  • Variabilidade interespecífica de características anatômicas e fisiológicas determinantes do potencial fotossintético em espécies lenhosas
  • Interação entre parâmetros hidráulicos e fotossintéticos em Coffea spp.
  • Papel da vulnerabilidade hidráulica na tolerância à seca em espécies herbáceas e lenhosas
  • Coordenação do transporte de água nas fases líquida e gasosa em espécies com características anatômicas distintas
